Profile:

I grew up in a small town about 30 km from Copenhagen with my older sister and our parents. After finishing high school I spent one year in New York City as an au pair. Just before I started at The Teacher Traning College, I moved to Copenhagen where I now live and also work. I work in a kindergarten which is placed in a ghetto of immigrants, which means that about 80 % of the children have different cultural backgrounds. When I am not working, I like spending time with other people. I enjoy cultural activities. Going to the theatre, the movies, museums etc.- but also to go out dancing! Quiet moments are spent with a god book or glancing out at sea. I have recently taken up gymnastics just for the fun of it and not like earlier when I used to participate in competitions.

Wishes for the stay:

Professionally I hope to see how your countries are dealing with what we in Denmark call “institutional culture”. Do you have anything similar and if you do, how does it work? In general, I would like to experience different projects related to humanitarian work and especially work related to children. This could be in a kindergarten, a day-care centre or other childcare facilities. Futhermore, since my job also consists of working with immigrants, I would be very interested in learning about how you deal with issues like integration - and maybe exchange ideas about how to overcome cultural differences. On a personal level, I am looking forward to an unforgettable experience, meeting new friends, discover the beautiful nature and to get to know more about the American/Canadian culture.
